Solamente por dos joyas de oscura psicodelia como “Melanie's Melody” y la doorsiana “Ronettes” merece la pena prestar atención a este cuarteto tejano que no acabó de cuajar en mi oído en anteriores incursiones pero que parece que esta vez ha conseguido asentarse dentro de mi ideario musical. Su logradísimo aire retro junto a una decadencia que me lleva a evocar a gente como Joy Division son dos argumentos de suficiente peso para sustentar el resto de temas de este ep junto a los que he mencionado arriba. El disco posee una capacidad hipnótica que creo que conseguiría que me entrasen ganas de escucharlo en casi cualquier situación, y eso me parece una carta de presentación inmejorable. Chapeau.
Only for the pleasure of discovering two songs like “Melanie's Melody” and the Doors-like “Ronettes” listening to “Phosgene Nightmare” is worthy. This texan quartet didn't fit my ear in previous works, but this time i must say they have caught me with their true retro-psychedelia and the somber decadence of their music, which drives me to evoke the sound of Joy Division and alikes. For me, these two arguments together with the two fantastic opening songs are more than enough for listening carefully to the whole ep, which i think has an hypnotic ability to make me wanting to hear it in any situation.
