Neurosis “Honor Found In Decay”

Parece que los malos tiempos inspiran extraordinariamente a cierta clase de artistas y les llevan a producir grandes obras. Al menos, eso me parece tras escuchar este “Honor Found In Decay”. Aun reconociendo todo lo que Neurosis suponen dentro de la escena, pocos discos suyos me han llegado a enganchar al completo, y este último trabajo de los californianos es uno de ellos, posiblemente junto a “Souls At Zero”, el más merecedor de mis elogios. Y es que da la impresión de que, esta vez, Scott Kelly y compañía han alcanzado dos objetivos en teoría contradictorios: ser más directos y, a la vez, más puristas en cuanto a los “must” primigenios del estilo, con total y absoluto éxito. La experiencia de Von Till en solitario y el los finales épicos como los de “At The Well” y “My Heart For Deliverance” también ayudan, y contribuyen a redondear uno de mis discos favoritos de la banda a lo largo de su trayectoria. Excelente.
It seems bad times inspire extraordinarily certain kind of artists and drive them to create great things. At least, that seems to me after listening this “Honor Found In Decay”.Even acknowledging everything Neurosis mean and have done in this scene, the point is that i have really enjoyed only several of their recordings, and this last one is one of them. Possibly, and together with “Souls At Zero”, my favourite one. I have the impression that, this time, Scott Kelly and company have achieved two theoretically contradictory goals: being more straight and, at the same time, more purist regarding the style's “musts”. And they have done that successfully. Steve Von Till's solo experience and the epic endings like in “At The Well” and “My Heart For Deliverance” also help, and they contribute to round off one of -for me- the best works of the band along their career. Excellent.
