Why:
- Ozzy, Iommi and Butler have likely created an album which is probably the closest thing to what their fans could expect from them nowadays.
- Most of the songs are pure Black Sabbath in their first five albums. Classic song structure also remains.
- Ozzy Osbourne keeps his talent and histrionism intact and Iommy still overtakes us with amazing master riffs.
- It's obvious when someone knows how to write great songs. Catchy and leaving place for the blues, a genre that, like to some other contemporaries, is where their music begun.
Why not:
- It cannot be compared to the band's first five albums. But i don't think that is possible nowadays, also because i cannot imagine something meaning the same “Paranoid” or “Master Of Reality” meant forty years ago. The world, the music, and the music industry have changed too much.
- Tommy Clufetos isn't Bill Ward. From time to time i miss Bill's more subtle style, even if Tommy's work is really good. But i'd love Bill was in this recording.
- “Age Of Reason” could sound a bit too much “actual” and out of place in tracklist. One could find too may similarities between “End Of The Beginning” and “Black Sabbath”, “Loner” and “N.I.B” or “Zeitgeist” and “Planet Caravan”. But it's a task for the fan to decied if this last thing is an advantage or a disadvantage.
