From Minneapolis arrives this young band bringing us an excellent mixture of styles, most of them connected to the folklore and their country's popular music some decades ago.The first tracks have a flavour made of cabaret and the now called “Americana” music, wrapping Nona Marie Invie's voice, which makes me evoke a Siouxie with their Banshees and guitars being replaced by a typical New Orleans ensemble. Afterwards, the things evolve to a folkier place without losing interest at all, and always fantastically communicating the atmosphere, beteween innocent and optimist, of part of the music that influences it. Even the great and melancholic “Robert” has something that invites to look forward and smile despite adversity. Great. |
