Scott Walker, al menos en lo que concierne a su faceta artística, es un personaje único dentro del mundo de la música. Desde sus días como cantante pop y country ha evolucionado de una forma cuanto menos sorprendente hasta desarrollar un estilo único, vanguardista, inquietante y oscuro absolutamente inimitable y sin, que yo sepa, parecido cercano. 4AD se cubrió de gloria con su fichaje y, tras el excelente “The Drift”, este increíble septuagenario nos vuelve a deleitar con una obra de similares características. Cada tema de “Bish Bosch” es, como en “The Drift”, algo absolutamente impredecible dentro de las peculiaridades comunes a la música de este, como Poe, angloamericano. Nunca sabemos cuando va a quedar todo en silencio, surgir una voz o si el espacio invisible será atravesado por un sonido inesperado. La percusión continua -sé que esto suena extraño fuera del contexto en el que hablamos- y los guitarrazos son nuevos elementos compositivos respecto al álbum predecesor y, dentro de todo el conjunto, este caos aparente se encuentra tan bien ordenado -o es tan magnético- que jamás nos desesperaremos dentro de un tema, sino que más bien nos sumergiremos en los tenebrosos universos que estos crean. Lo del señor Walker es suspense del bueno: “Corps De Blah”, “Epizootic” o cualquiera de los nueve temas del disco te vendrán a confirmar que estamos ante algo absolutamente original y tan adictivo como los mejores cuentos de terror.
Scott Walker, at least in regard to his artistic side, is a unique character in the music universe. From his days as pop and country singer, he has evolved in an amazing way and developed an exclusive, avantgarde, disturbing and dark style, that, as far as i know, finds no close resemblance. 4AD had success by signing Walker and, after the excellent “The Drift”, this incredible septuagenarian delights us again with a similar work.Each song in “Bish Bosch” is, as it was in “The Drift”, something absolutely unpredictable under the common peculiarities of the music this -as Poe- angloamerican creates. We never know when everything will turn silent, when a voice is going to rise or when the invisible space is gonna be crossed by an unexpected sound. The persistent drums – i know it sounds weird outside this context- and the guitar riffs are new compositive elements in regard to its predecessor and, altogether, this apparent chaos is so good organised -or is so magnetic- than we will never despair throughout a track but we will dive into the gloomy universes it creates. This is quality suspense: “Corps The Blah”, “Epizootic” or any of the nine tracks in the album will confirm you this is something absolutely original and as addictive as the best horror tales.
