Discazo. |
Aside his doubtless magnitude in the recent history of music as an avantgarde and experimental artist, mr.Ranaldo is also an excellent pop music composer; this can be heard in his ninth album, surely much closer to the mainstream than most of his work for Sonic Youth and containing catchy songs. But one cannot get easily free of the years behind, and the original acoustic tracks in “Between the times and the tides” have passed through a “Sonification” process, so you can hear and feel the “grain” in the songs, even if less than we are used to. I can't find anything to get rid of in this recording, although, if i must choose, my preferences go to “Waiting On A Dream”, “Xtina as I knew her” y “Fire Island”. A great album. |
